LEXINGTON, KY: Many have agreed that the 2009 Bluegrass State Games were a success. More than 200 people wrestled in the event, from bantam to senior, everyone got a match. Fans from accross the state got to see some of the best wrestlers in the state go against other top ranked wrestlers. Some of the top talent we saw saturday include, #2 Mack Logsdon, #4 Jimmy Lacy, #4 Luke Troxell, #4 Kyle Terry, #5 TJ Bates, #3 Travis Krauziewicz, #4 Josh Moss, #1 Brad Hitchings, and #1 Tyler Pace.
After 531 bouts, the gym was closed up at a decent hour and everyone feeling satisfied. It was obvious that some of the older guys were sucking wind, but it was great seeing some of the past state champions like Clint Bell out on the mat again. The state games tournament has always been a friendly tournament for the old guys to get back out on the mat with the young guys in their prime.
We expect this tournament to be even larger next year and would love to see everyone back again. We’ve got some decent coverage photos of the tournament posted, but if you have some more to add, just let me know. I’m certainly no professional!
Official results will be posted after they are released from the BGSG administration.
